Breakfast, easy run, excursion on Circum-Baikal railway
The first Baikal Ice trail was in March 2019. We want to show you how wonderful Baikal in winter running by surface. It is incredible feeling to run and know that more than 1 km water under you. We try to do our trail really sport holiday and want to do it every year for you and your family.

What shoes to run?
Answer
It is better to have different sets of clothes and shoes. Usually in March the ice on lake Baikal is covered with snow and run comfortably in trail sneakers with an average tread. Sometimes the ice is open, of course, you can use the shoes with spikes. Option with overlays for shoes is possible but not very good in practice

There are three food items in 5,10,15 km. We offer for you: water, warm tea,fruits chocolate and our friendly volunteers

Why do you need sunglasses and sunscreen in the winter?
Answer
The sun is so bright in good weather in March on Baikal. It would be better to us the sunglasses.

How to get to the start point?
Answer:
The most reliable way is the train ride from Irkutsk to Slyudyanka. Get to the station Temnaya Pad then go down the path to Baikal to the village Staraya Angasolka. It takes one hour to go for a walk. Also we can get to Staraya Angasolka a day before the start from Slyudyanka by train “Motanya".

Can I come by car to the start place?

There is no ice crossing official.

Is it dangerous to run on ice?
Answer:
There is so strong and thick ice in the lake in this season. This ice can support the weight of a multi-ton machine. Before the construction of the Circum-Baikal Railway there was a ferry for a steam locomotive from the west to the east coast of Baikal.
